October 20: Creature

movie reviews

There are lots of movies that feature crocodiles as monsters. I usually enjoy them, but I only ever watch them as a last resort. I have a problem with monsters that are of the natural world, even if they’re abnormally large or rabid or something. I’ve had a lot of time to get used to their existence.

Unknown monsters, like Pumpkinhead or Pinhead (or anything that ends with “head,” really) are infinitely more interesting. I can be awed by the sight of them. I can appreciate the imagination that goes into their design and mythical origin. Creature blends together the killer croc and the unknown creature to make a beast that’s half-man and half-animal. It really is the best of both worlds. This monster has superhuman strength and is ugly as they come. You’ll never want to go into the swamp again.
